"Hook and Ladder Cemetery, Gretna -- records as of June 25, 1890"

This record is the first one found listing owners or occupants of plots in this cemetery. The location of the original record book is unknown. Date of death known to the transcriber were added as well as possible corrections to the spellings. "Jefferson Parish Conveyance Book S, page 709 to 712 as copied from Latter Day Saints microfilm 05052813934975." State of Louisiana -vs- The Gretna Hook and Ladder Co. 160909 "Judicial District Court, Parish of Jefferson:" Judgement: The law and evidence being considered and the same being in favor of the Plaintiffs and against the defendant " It is ordered adjudged and Decreed that the charter granted to the Gretna Hook and Ladder Company of Date December 4th, 1850" certified by Chas. Gayans Dec 5/50 be and is fortified and set aside as wiell void and without effect. And It is further ordered adjudged and decreed that John Hepting Esq. be and is hereby appointed and constituted the liquidator of its affairs upon his furnishing a bond "in the sum of Five Thousand dollars in favor of the Governor of the State of Louisiana, conditioned for the faithful performance of his " duties as such liquidator. Thus such liquidation be and is required and authorized to sell and dispose in the manner required for judicial and Sheriff's sales of all the rights and titles of the Defunct Corporation in and to the property described in titles hereto annezed and marked XXX No. 1 and "XXX No. 2 that out of the proceeds of such sale, he pay all costs and expenses herein incurred and to be incurred, that the net " proceeds of sales thus realized be paid over to the Individuals named in documents marked A. B. and #4 Constituting the individuals "now composing the defunct corporation, seperately and collectively and that he make due returns to the Court of his doings and " actions in the premises the said Liquidators fees to be taxed as costs and are fixed at 2 1/2 per cent on gross receipts of sale.
